Top 5 apps for a Traveller!

I'm just skipping to review Google Maps. Its just the best and many have reviewed the app. Esp now after its update to download sections of the map, to be available offline, it has just become the best friend of any traveller. I'm listing four other apps that I find necessary on my phone. Btw, I own a One Plus One phone with Cyanogen 12.1 OS built on Andriod Lollipop. So, all experiences are on it.

2. City Mapper - Its a map of London, UK (It has other cities too, but I've used only London). It can tell you the atleast 10 options to go from one place to another, incl the cheapest, fastest, lowest walking distance etc! Best part is if you're online, it exactly gives you how many minutes more for the next bus or train to arrive! Helped me to just choose walking than waiting for the next bus that would come after 15 mins!

3. Run Log - Not exactly a travel app. Its a GPS based app which tracks your path. Internet is required to load the map. Once its loaded, internet can be switched off! Just GPS is needed! That ways, the data charges, as well as battery life is sustained. Its best when on treks and walks in jungle or new places where you don't know the geography. Always helped me in returning back to my hotel in many many places, both in India & out of India, even if I don't know the local language! I switch it on from the lobby of the hotel, go wherever I want to (esp morning jogs) and trace back my path myself!

4. Sygic - An extensive offline map. Esp, in long distance travels, where the battery of the mobile should be saved, this helps. Works on GPS alone. Since the entire map is saved locally, its a bit heavy and isn't very accurate to tiny little lanes or small kiosk type hotels, as G Maps. But definitely serves the purpose, when data and battery has to be saved. On my travels from one city to another by bike (Chennai to Chittoor, Chennai to Bangalore, In & around Pondy and its surroundings) usually I'm on Sygic, than G Maps.

5. Pink Daily - Though this is not exactly a travel app, I think this app is essential for all women travellers. One major irritating factor for women who love to travel is when their body starts bleeding when they're least ready for it, totally unexpectedly!!! This app predicts & reminds of the upcoming menstrual date (periods) a day earlier, based on input of previous months, so any planning can be made keeping in mind to rest in those days. I wish they update to remind atleast 5 days earlier. It is pattern locked so your privacy is taken care of.

P.S: All images belong to the apps taken from their Google Play Store pages. This is NOT a sponsored post.
